What Kol Tikvah is all about – message from Rabbi Boxman

Finally I share something with you that is sure to make you smile, but more importantly will help you understand what the purpose and mission of a synagogue like ours is all about.  I’m sure you are aware that vandals desecrated Jewish cemeteries recently in St. Louis and Philadelphia.  One of our families, The Morgensterns, who hail from St. Louis, were personally affected by this horrific act of hate.  Their five year old daughter, Ayel, was so moved by this despicable act, she decided to paint ladybugs and hearts on rocks that could be sent to the cemeteries as an act of solidarity and empathy with those who are suffering from this malicious behavior.  Ayel posted a video explaining her motivation, I share it with you not only because of how amazed you will be by this sensitive five year old, but because as she mentions the word mitzvah, her frame of reference was her participation in our Kol Tikvah Mitzvah Day a couple weeks ago.  Truly what we do here at Kol Tikvah matters and makes a difference in creating the Jews of the future. From my home to yours and from heart to heart, I wish you a Chag Purim Sameach!
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi
