Women In Distress served as Broward County’s first refuge for homeless women in a modest four-bedroom home until a local tragedy brought light to the need for shelter for women and children in danger. Women In Distress is the only nationally accredited, state-certified, full service domestic violence center serving Broward County, Florida. Services are offered free of charge to survivors of domestic violence no matter their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, immigration status, or socio-economic standing. They also offer 24/7 Emergency Shelter, 24 hour Crisis Hotline, Advocacy and Support groups, Therapy and Children’s Services.
KOLOT – Voices To End Domestic Abuse – is part of JFS of Broward County Domestic Abuse Program.
The Coalition focuses on education and outreach and includes organizations such as Women in Distress, the Broward Domestic Violence Council, Jewish Community Foundation and 25 other agencies and individuals who support the mission to end domestic abuse.
