Dear Friends,
I write this note on behalf of our congregation in advance of Hurricane Dorian, which seems certain to have impacts upon our community here in Broward County. While we do not know the strength or final trajectory of the storm, as we all know, preparation is key for protecting ourselves and our belongings. Please click here for emergency preparedness procedures.
I have been in touch with our CKT Brotherhood and Caring Committee, both of whom have agreed to mobilize individuals to assist those who may need help in putting up shutters and/or bringing in furniture and other outside items. If you would like assistance, please be in touch with the temple office today or tomorrow and we will ask Brotherhood and the Caring Committee to reach out to you.
After the storm has passed, I would ask, if you know anyone in the congregation that needs help due to loss of power or other necessity, please let us know so that we can be there for one another. Also, assuming the synagogue retains power and is in relatively good condition, we will open up the synagogue as a place of refuge for those who may need to escape the heat and a place to hang out during the day until power is restored.
As we all know, hurricanes can not only wreak havoc with our material belongings, but even more so with our emotions. Let us pray that the peace that comes with the Sabbath tomorrow stays with us throughout the storm and that all of us emerge from the storm safely. Of course, I invite you to join us for Shabbat services tomorrow evening at 6:30pm and/or Shabbat Morning, Saturday at 10:00am.
If I can be of any further assistance, please be in touch, 954-816-0416.
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Boxman
