Marketing & Communications/Teen Engagement Coordinator

Overall Role

Congregation Kol Tikvah (CKT) is seeking a dynamic highly motivated, personable, creative, tech-savvy, organized individual to serve this full-time (40 hours / week), hybrid role as Marketing & Communications/Teen Youth Engagement Coordinator. The dual roles will allow you to use your marketing experience and your knowledge of social media to engage with different ages and different demographics.

As Marketing & Communications Coordinator (20 hours / week), this individual oversees all external communications (digital, print, internal, and external communications and PR initiatives), helping to build Kol Tikvah’s brand and achieve its business goals. The Coordinator is responsible for crafting and telling Kol Tikvah’s story to our community — people who are already connected to the synagogue and to those who are not yet. In this role, the Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Executive Director with significant support by the Marketing Committee, consisting of seasoned Marketing professionals.

As Teen Engagement Coordinator (20 hours / week), this individual’s primary responsibility is the engagement of our 6th through 12th Graders. He or she will work with the teens to create and execute fun and engaging Jewish programming.  The primary time commitment is during the school year: Sunday mornings and Monday evenings. As the school year evolves there may be other weekday and weekend responsibilities. In this role, the Coordinator will work under the Director of Education and Youth Engagement. The Coordinator position serves as the BBYO advisor for the chapter that is housed at CKT. BBYO will provide professional development training for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing Coordination / Communication
    • Conduct an audit of existing current communications, aligning with Marketing Committee roadmap with defined goals and benchmarks. Evaluate progress and provide regular reports to Marketing Committee leads.
    • Work with staff and lay leadership to create and maintain an internal framework, process, and system for communications to streamline messaging and strengthen brand across all media.
    • Create and manage the master marketing calendar, mapping out anticipated communication touchpoints and timelines.
    • Serve as liaison to all departments and committees/auxiliaries for all marketing and communications needs.
    • Work with Marketing Committee and PR professional to write and circulate press releases, media invitations, and articles to Jewish News and other local news sources.
    • Assist with incoming phone calls and reception coverage, from time to time, as part of staff team.
  • Digital / Social Marketing
    • Design and send weekly eblasts, other electronic communications, and other print, electronic and social media-focused marketing.
    • Utilize a variety of social media platforms to drive community engagement around Kol Tikvah programs and activities.
    • Manage website, ensuring it remains current and dynamic.
    • Work with the Events & Engagement Coordinator to create and produce print and digital marketing materials (invitations, booklets, posters, directory, newsletter, postcards, brochures, letterhead, flyers, direct mail, ad tiles and other projects.)
    • Create event/registration pages
    • Assist in SEM campaigns and SEO for all sites.
  • Teen Engagement
    • Engage and connect with youth and parents in order to build relationships and recruit for programming.
    • Revitalize Monday night programming and youth group programs, in partnership with Director of Education and Youth Engagement.
    • Connect with youth both in person and via social media to engage with our youth
    • Mentor student leadership both through direct engagement and programming.
    • Plan, publicize and implement youth programs for teens in 6th-12th grades.
    • Teach in our religious school in order to build relationships with preteens.
    • Track membership and participation in program; Establish benchmark for growth goals.
    • Connect with larger (regional) NFTY and BBYO events as appropriate.
    • Staff (and lead as necessary) family programs, including Shabbat, Purim Carnival, and other congregational programs.

  • Education / Experience: Bachelor’s Degree plus 1-2 years marketing/communications experience preferred, including digital and print communications, websites, social media, and public relations.
    • Past leadership in informal or formal Jewish education experiences
    • Fluency with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and other social medial platforms.
    • Proficiency with online video platforms such as Zoom, StreamSpot, Facebook Live, YouTube, and Vimeo.
    • Working knowledge of Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress, Microsoft and Google products.
    • Understanding of Jewish rituals, life cycle events, holidays, and customs.
  • Strong Role Model For Teens: Engage with teens on their level while remaining professional and the “adult”; Understands appropriate development, boundaries and interactions with teens.
