SETTING THE TONE OF THE WEEKEND: INTRODUCTION TO THE 60’S & 70’S AS EXPRESSED IN THE MEDIA OF MUSIC AND TELEVISION

Robert Morris, Ph.D. is a professor of history at Broward College. He received his Bachelor of Arts at Colgate University in history where he also received his Master’s Degree in Social Studies. He received his Doctor of Philosophy at Barry University in leadership and education.

THE GREAT FOLK MUSIC THAT DEFINES A GENERATION!

Michael Stock hosts “Folk & Acoustic Music” on the NPR station in South Florida 91.3 FM WLRN every Sunday afternoon from 2:00PM-5:00PM. This evenings program will feature music of the great folk revival in America. From 1940 to1965, folk music of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and The Weavers, Bob Dylan and Phil Ochs was on top of the charts. Music and songs that protested the Vietnam War and were sung at civil rights rallies. Expect to hear familiar and popular folk music as well as new songs from contemporary political writers.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2018 AT NOON (LUNCH INCLUDED) TELEVISION OF THE 60’S AND 70’S
Mitchell E. Shapiro, Ph.D., is a professor in the School of Communication at the University of Miami (Florida) and is currently the director of honors (and former Academic Associate Dean). He is a renowned scholar and educator, researching television programming from both empirical and historical perspectives for the past 40 years. He has authored nine books on television and radio, the most recent of which is The Top 100 American Situation Comedies: An Objective Ranking, was featured on Live with Kelly and Michael. He has served as a consultant for television and radio stations in South Florida and around the nation. He has appeared numerous times on local and national television and radio to discuss and comment on various happenings in the broadcast media.
